Experienced players know many strategies that improve their chances in a game. The most popular strategies used in blackjack are: player selects an additional card, he does not select any additional cards, he doubles the stake, and he chooses splitting or insurance. Below you can find short explanation of each strategy:
- selecting – after dealing the cards a player uncovers his two cards. The croupier uncovers only one. At that moment, a player may choose to take an additional card or not. This move is called „hit”.
- No selecting – player does not select any additionally cards. Possibly, the value of his two cards is already high. This move is called “pass”.
- stake doubling (so called double down). Player is allowed to double his stake only when he is already holding two cards in his hands. If he decides to double the stake, he can pick one card additionally.
- Cards splitting – in a situation when player has been given two cards with the same value, he can double the stake or he can select new cards. This move is called “split”.
- Insurance – it is an additional stake which value is a half of the first stake. Player is allowed to use the option with insurance only when the uncovered card of dealer is an ace. Player thinks that the second card may have a value of 10 or bigger and the croupier has blackjack. If he is right, he looses the first stake but he is given an insurance 2:1. Overall, the player looses only the money spent on the insurance.
